Some patients simply cannot tolerate having their mandible brought forward. For others, such as a patient who already is a skeletal class lll, they would only be made more prognathic. Luckily there are alternatives to these posture forwarding appliances.

The following appliances work by acting directly on the tongue to prevent it from dropping back into the airway:

THE FULL BREATH SOLUTION®
The FBS has an adjustable extension that reaches back and down towards the posterior aspect of the tongue. It is designed in such a manner that when the tongue drops back into the airway during sleep it makes contact with this extension. This contact stimulates the tongue to come forward while eliminating any potential mandible pain or TMJ problems. This appliance has enjoyed phenomenal success – attaining a 72% drop in the Apnea Hypopnea Index (measuring the number of times per hour the tongue blocks the airway for at least 10 seconds).

THE FULL BREATH O2 ™
For ensuring the maximum results and benefits from the Full Breath Solution, the Full Breath O2 appliance features tubes within the acrylic for the delivery of low levels of oxygen. This is a unique approach only available by using this patented design.

THE ZYPPAH® K APPLIANCE
This appliance is comprised of a lightweight, non-invasive, vacuum-form appliance consisting of two sturdy acrylic arch trays formed to fit tightly over the teeth along with a custom Green Zyppah Tongue Band to stabilize the tongue and keep it from obstructing the airway. This device can also advance the lower jaw. The elastics can be switched out within a range of incremental sizes to ensure the best individual fit and function for each patient.

ZYPPAH® HYBRID APPLIANCES
A lightweight, non-invasive, dual-action hybrid appliance that consists of two sturdy acrylic arch trays joined by a pair of elastics attached along either side. The elastics advance and comfortably maintain the lower tray in an open-airway position. The green Zyppah Tongue Band stabilizes the tongue and keeps it from obstructing the breathing passage. Elastics can be switched out within a range of incremental sizes to accommodate all patients and ensure best fit and function.
